One likely cause of this is that during image creation there is real time error correction.  Even with a stable wireless connection there is allways variations in the signal (especially if you are trasnmitting over distance and/or there are objects in between as well).  Another source would be electrical interference.  Do you have any unshielded appliances?

I'm using Ghost 12 from my laptop backing up via wireless to a Buffalo NAS drive. It takes about 5 minutes just to start Ghost - the green progress bar that says it is accessing backup records takes nearly 5 minutes to complete. Meanwhile, I can access the Buffalo disk via shared drive just fine. My initial backup took a couple of hours (that seems fine), but subsequent backups are taking forever. With only a few new files to backup (maybe a few MB), it takes for over an hour at nearly 100% CPU to complete. I have a healthy 54 Mbps wireless network. I can manually transfer files between my laptop and the Buffalo disk just fine (130MB file in two minutes)

Does Ghost not like running over wireless? Is there a problem using the Buffalo NAS drive with Ghost?

Also running Norton Internet Security

Anyone? Comments, thoughts, help? Ghost spends nearly an hour (almost 100% CPU) for minor incremental backup to Buffalo Linkstation disk
