Hello
I purchased Ghost 14.0, made a full disk backup restore point of the entire machine, and wiped the machine clean. I installed a completely fresh copy of XP Pro, installed a clean set of Office 2003 and performed another full system restore point creation.
Yay, because all of that worked just fine
So, on to creating the "Symantec System Recovery disk". I launched the "wizard", let it do the automatic driver detection thingy, and it went off and started to copy the files to a "temporary directory". Almost immediately the system crashes to the proverbial "blue screen of death".
Any ideas?
Yes.. I do use XP SP3. The error seems to occur just as the program starts to copy a "VIM" file or something like that.. The BSOD happens so quickly after that msg appears that I can't really read it. :(
It seems kind of strange that Norton would put out a program that simply fails to work with an operating system so prevalent as XP..

Could you provide the details of the blue screen error including all STOP registers? We'll need that and the file involved to determine where the problem is. Thanks.
Stop 00000024 (001902FE, F0029395, F0029098, F73CF736) ntfs.sys F73CF736 base F000 datestamp 48025BE5.
I can also get the dump files if you need them. If you want me to send them to you, please give me an e-mail address to send them to, as I believe they are too large to post here.

Don't need the dump as what you posted is sufficient information.
This actually isn't a Ghost problem, but is an environmental problem. Since it's the file system driver that's crashing I'd be concerned about the following possibilities:
-Damage somewhere on the hard disk
-Problem with the HDD controller
-MFT damage
-File system damage
Do you have more than one hard drive? If so, I recommend disconnecting other drives to see if the corruption lies on another drive. Whether you have one or more than one drive, you'll want to run chkdsk /f on the affected volumes. If worse comes to worse, you may need to reformat your drive(s) and reset up your partitions. Be aware that replacing the drive and/or motherboard may be what you'll end up having to do as well.
Hi
I have the same problem and the only help a support person could give was that it is a XP sp3 issue. Do you also use winxp sp3?
