The copy my hard drive process can take some time. Since you're getting SMART warnings I would recommend that you create an image to an external hard drive and then restore to the new drive. The access violation is more than likely due to the source drive and not the destination drive. The drive needs to be stable enough during the backup process to ensure uncorrupted data.
You can also try choosing "Ignore Bad Sectors", but keep in mind that if any data is in a bad sector it will be corrupted.
Good News:
Got it! Took 6 tries. Not sure, but after I shut down all of the automatic update incoming for everything, I got my copy.
Bad News: The new drive when installed as the master won't boot up. Back to troubleshooting.............
Did you choose to restore MBR when you restored the image?
