Seems like I have been fighting with Ghost to try to accomplish a few relatively simple tasks.
System: Dell XPS720, Vista Ultimate, partions and/or drives C, D, E, F, & G.
1. Want to do a full backup of C, D, E, F the first time ghost runs in a new month (run manually, not scheduled)
2. Want to do a full folder back of one folder on G the first time ghost runs in a new month (run manually, not scheduled)
destination of the above backups is EXTERNAL 1 (external USB)
3. After that, want to do an incremental backup of C, D, E, F each day (run manually), and incremental backup of folder on G (run manually), Destination is EXTERNAL 1
When a new month starts, I want to disconnect EXTERNAL 1 and put it in the safe. It will be replaced with EXTERNAL 2, and then repeat the steps above until the end of the month, when ETERNAL 1 and EXTERNAL 2 will be swapped again, and restart the sequence.
I can't seem to make this happen without ghost wanting to move recovery points and go through all sorts of gyrations.
What am I missing? What are the proper steps to accomplish this?
This was relatively easy to accomplish in XP using NTBACKUP, but Vista backup just plain sucks. I am not a novice user by any means, but when I say that ghost and I have been fighting, that is pretty close to the truth!
Thanks,
Glenn
