Ghost 15 and in-built Factory Restore feature? Restore just C drive or C drive & "system reserved"?

Hi Norton Community!

Problem:

I am using a practically brand-new Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate (I did a "Windows Anytime Upgrade" from Windows 7 Home Premium).  I use Norton Ghost 15 to backup to a USB HDD.  The laptop was running beautifully until I installed the Service Pack 1 using Windows Update.  Disaster!  The laptop is still able to boot, although quite slowly, and is running with corrupted system files and limited functionality.  No WiFi internet access.  Also, can't open the Norton Ghost application anymore.  System restore will not work, and I can't uninstall the SP 1 update.  Tried everything, including scan file checker.  Not sure whether to use a Symantec recovery disk to boot into the "recovery environment" and then restore the laptop from a Ghost backup on the USB HDD, or do a "Factory Restore" first, then download Ghost, and then do a Ghost Restore.  Alas, I don't have the Ghost 15 disk, as I bought this as a download.  If I should just use a Symantec recovery disk and skip the "Factory Restore", I would need a Recovery Disk.  I do have Norton Ghost 15 running on my very old desktop that is using Windows 7 Home Premium.  Can I create a Recovery Disk from my desktop and use it on my laptop?  Also, I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize the in-built pre-installed "Factory Restore" feature on my laptop...just in case Ghost fails!

Questions (all inter-related):

1)  Will restoring my computer from a saved Norton Ghost 15 backup ruin my computer's in-built pre-installed "Factory Restore" feature?

2)  Should I just restore the "C drive" OR  should I restore BOTH the "C drive" and "system reserved" partitions?

3)  Should I do a "Factory Restore" first and then a "Ghost" restore?

4)  Should I purchase a new Norton Ghost 15 disk or create a recovery disk from my much older desktop that is running Windows 7 and Ghost 15, since I can't even get Ghost to open on my laptop anymore?

Laptop:  Sony Vaio

System: Windows 7 Ultimate (upgraded by Window Anytime Upgrade from pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium)

You only need to restore a Win7 image taken prior to installing SP1. Fixed.

RestoreOptions...
