Ghost 15 back up folder too slow

Hi, All,

I have some data(150G) on a 500G external drive, I want to back them up and save to a dedicated external drive.  so I installed Ghost to my desktop and as a test, I tried to back up one of the data folders. This folder is 8G big , contains 3000 files.  Afraid of external drive to external drive backup taking too long, I choose to back up the data to free space on the desktop's C drive (system drive, 110G free space). But after 1 hour,  it is still estimating/calculating the time. Yesterday, I use Ghost CD , did one-time cold backup of a whole external hard drive(160G total, 50G data), takes around 40-50 minutes. The folder back is too slow in comparison.

I am thinking to move all the data on the 500G external drive to an external drive, then using one-time cold backup of the whole drive. But when I copy the data in windows XP, it shows it can not copy, probably due to the folder structure is too deep, like 9 or 10 level deep from the root.  So is there some DOS tool I can use to copy the data to an external hardrive? Or any suggestion to speed up the folder backup?

Regards,

Tao
