Ghost 15 causes (healthy) unknown partitions/lost drive-assignments-- how do I recover???

I switched from PQ Drive Image 7.04 to Ghost thinking it would be considerable better-- now I've run into issues where my external backup HDDs keep losing their letter assignment and become "(healthy) unknown partitions" (HUP) all of which can be seen by XP Disk Management but only some by Ghost 15.  Right now, one of my drives has both the letter assignment AND "(healthy) unknown partition" after copying through Ghost 15-- which, I have learned, means it will become a "HUP" (w/o the letter assignment, thus unreadable-- AGAIN) after I reboot.  Additionally, in Disk Management, my only "right-click" option is to "delete partition."  I saw a partial thread about losing the letter assignments but it did not have all the problems that I am experiencing. Questions:  1) how can I recover HUPs, and, 2) how can I keep from losing letter-assigned partitions that have just been copied through Ghost 15??? I am sure more people have seen this problem than just me.
