Ghost 15 Event ID: 4879 MSDTC Client 2

After installing Ghost 15, I have this frequent event id log in my event viewer (Windows 7 Sp1 x64 Ultimate).

http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-4879-source-MSDTC%20Client%202-eventno-10743-phase-1.htm

Is it normal to have it? Can I simply ignore it or it is just my machine?

Apparently I have no problem during backup operations, but I'm worried about this event.

Thank you.

Open a command prompt and type VSSADMIN LIST PROVIDERS. You should see the Symantec Software VSS Provider listed here. Do you see it?

Yes, I see it.

Also, open Ghost, go to the ADVANCED tab and check the event log. Do you see any errors there?

I don't see errors there.

So, I should be ok.

It seems that Ghost doesn't support mutual authentication method, according to my previous link.

Correct. This is one of the warning messages that can be ignored if backups complete successfully.

Here is the technote from Microsoft regarding this error: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753510(WS.10).aspx. Give this a shot, as this worked with another customer to resolve this error.

Just one question... do i need Network DTC Access if I decide to create a backup on a machine connected to my LAN?

Can you be more specific? Do you mean creating a backup by the Ghost console on another machine on your network, like a remote backup?

Yes, I do.

Try it and see. If COM is up and running, it will work. If not, it will fail.

If you are working with Windows 7, however, you will want to completey disable your firewall during your test. Windows Firewall will block the Ghost traffic, and you will have to make allowances.

At the moment I don't need to create remote backups, so I simply enabled Network DTC Access with no Authentication, without changing Windows Firewall settings or activating inbound / outbound transactions.

For my needs it is more than sufficient to not display that warning keeping a security approach.
