Norton Ghost 15 has been on the market for 3 years, yet it still doesn't recognize a 3TB USB 3.0 external hard drive! Are there any plans for updating Ghost 15 that will fix this problem?
Since my Win7 PC can routinely see and use this 3TB ext drive, then Ghost 15 should also be able to handle this new technology. Even the weak WD Smartware (that I previously used) had no problems recognizing and handling a 3TB ext drive.

Welcome,
Ghost 15 will not be updated. Symantec System Recovery [SSR] has been released to replace it. SSR does recognize 3TB drives and USB3.x ports/connections.
These are links to the new software. You will be required to buy a new license for that product. Be sure to check your known reliable vendors to see if any are running specials or sales that include SSR. That way you might be able to get the license for less than the MSRP
Deric, as Dave mentioned, it is the size or the disk that is important. The maximum size of a MBR disk is 2^32 sectors. If Windows sees the sectors as 512 bytes (512e) then the maximum size of a MBR disk is 2 TiB. There are HDs in the pipeline where Windows sees the sectors as 4K bytes. The maximum size of a MBR disk with this firmware will be 16 TiB but it still has 2^32 sectors. Note, these aren't the current advanced format 4K sector HDs.
I tried that and initialized the 2.0GB partition as MBR, and the other .8GB partition was unallocated, but Ghost 15 still didn't recognize the ext drive. While partitioned this way, I also unplugged the ext drive from a USB 3.0 port to a 2.0, then rebooted, but it still didn't see the ext drive.
I just bought a 3TB drive in the last 2 weeks. It has one partition and is formatted GPT. I have copied some recovery points to it. I am currently running SSR 2013, but decided to try an experiment. I booted the Ghost 15 SRD and got some strange results....
I have...
128 GB SSD
1TB HDD (3 partitions)
1TB HDD
1TB HDD
3TB HDD
Ghost 15 SRD sees the 3TB drive and can verify an image just fine. The 1TB HDD with 3 partitions does not show up.
Using my custom Ghost 15 on WinPE 3 SRD, everything shows up as well as the SSR 2013 SRD based on WinPE 4.
I see no reason why someone could not continue to use Ghost 15 and use a SSR recovery disk if they need to restore an image.
The SSR recovery disk is freely availible and does not require a serial number to restore an image.
In the past we have given people links to the Ghost 15 recovery disk when they had previous versions of Ghost and for one reason or another could not access the image with the recovery disk that came with the version of ghost they were using.
I see no difference in giving a link to the SSR recovery disk. A person using a licenced version of Ghost 15 has a right to be able to restore that Ghost 15 image, in my opinion.
