I am running Ghost 15 under Windows 7 Professional and backing up to an external hard drive. I have been using Ghost backups for some time. I want to "reset" Ghost to the beginning and change from full to incremental backups, but it will not allow me to do it. I don't care if I lose my old backups. In the past, I have had to do a full unload of Ghost, reformat my backupdrive, and reload Ghost. Is there another way to do this?
I should add that I need to do this because Ghost periodically decides to quit recognizing one of my hard drives and will only allow me to do a full backup which a) takes a lot of time, and b) fills up my external drive in about 4 days. Even though I have set up to automatically manage free space on the external drive, it insists the external drive is full. The only thing I can do to make to continue is to manually (through Ghost) delete backup sets.
Also, keep in mind that when you set ghost to limit the number of backup sets, it will create the new full backup first.
Say you limit it to 3, Ghost will first make a 4'th before it goes back and deletes the oldest so you have to take that into account. Also since your switching to incrementals, a "set" is the base image plus all the incrementals that go with it.
