Ah, I thought that might be it, but it's odd that that is not listed anywhere (that I could find) in the User's Guide, nor is there any sort of alert to that effect.

Unfortunately, Ghost 9 is very old. We've tried each version for information on combating WINBOM errors to be improved to the point where you can work around these errors directly through the program. Hopefully this helps.
Also, a point to consider. Incrementals were designed to quickly backup the changes automatically throughout the day on a predetermined schedule. Generally, this is a very quick process if the incrementals are taken often. The consolidation of incrementals can take longer. But if the incrementals are often and small, this does not create a burden on the computer or the user. If however, you choose to manually kick things off, you are often better off just taking base images that you kick off before you walk away from your machine for a while.
I have Ghost 9.0 and Windows XP Pro. I've created the job (baseline with incrementals) and then run the job manually. Often, when I request an incremental, Ghost creates a new baseline back up instead. What's up with that? Really annoying, since typically I'm creating an incremental when I don't have TIME for a baseline.
Suggestions?
It entirely depends on the amount of changes on your drive. If you've had a significant number of changes you are going to get a base every time.
