Good morning,
I am noticing issues with Norton Lock App on the Samsung Tab A7 tablet. Gmail app is supposed to be unlocked and used 24/7, however after a certain amount of time, the Gmail app will be locked and you’d have to use the pin. To fix this, I go into the Norton app, unlock Gmail app, then its fixed but after a while it eventually locks again, resulting in complaints. How to keep Gmail app unlocked 24/7?
And to confirm, after you are asked for this code for the Gmail app, checking App Lock has reset the Gmail app to locked?
Going back to my earlier question, how did you originally set up the apps to be locked? Did you manually lock each app one at a time, or did you use the Lock All, or Lock Recommended Apps options?
Yes, the 3 apps I need do not have a green lock next to it. After some time, Gmail app becomes locked again and asks for the code. It's like it resets itself. The passcode always comes back. Should I uninstall/reinstall? Is it a bug or glitch?
I understood that is sounded like you did not want Gmail to be locked, which allows you 24/7 access to the app. If you do not set App Lock to protect Gmail you should not see any passcode requests.
Did you manually select each app you are protecting or did you use the Lock Recommended Apps in the App Lock app? Your OP mentions you go in and unlock the Gmail app and then it was locked again. My image below shows my Gmail app locked, green lock icon. Tapping that should remove the lock indication and the app would not longer require a passcode.
Sorry, I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m trying to say. Let me reiterate. Samsung tablet has Norton App lock to prevent workers from utilizing all unauthorized applications such as Youtube/Play Store/Gallery/Web/etc. The only apps needed to be unlocked for use is Adobe, Gmail, and My Files. Everything else is locked up. However after a certain amount of time after it is unlocked, the Gmail app locks by itself, therefore needing a passcode. The workers do not have access to the passcode for obvious reasons. I created this question to find a solution to having the Gmail app unlocked 24/7. The Adobe and My Files app does not do have this issue. Thank you.
The only way I can see is to remove the Gmail app from the App Lock protection. Which for the way you seem to want unfettered access to the app would not be removing any protection. You don't seem too worried about protecting the app anyway.
is there anyway i can just have the Gmail app unlocked 24/7 ?? it will be used by a rotation of night and day shift that receives updated paperwork to be downloaded from Gmail.
The only setting I can see for Norton App Lock on Android devices is to keep an app locked in the current session. This option is displayed when you first try to access the app. Be sure it is unchecked. But it only keeps the app unlocked until your let the device sleep or you turn it off. If just allowing the device to sleep, I have found the locked app will still be running when you wake the device, but you need to enter the App Lock code to access that app.
This is protection for your data if you put the device down and someone is able to pick it up and they happen to know your screen lock, there is another layer of protection for the data in the locked app.
