Go Daddy Website Builder not working with Norton 360

I upgraded to Norton 360 from Internet Security in Mar-2013 which coincides with Go Daddy's Website Builder ceasing to work for my website on my pc.  Go Daddy's Tech Support is not having any difficulty accessing my website so I am now focusing on blocked internet traffic from my pc.  I have tried three browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome) with varying and intermittent degrees of success until now none of the browsers can access any of my custom website pages in the Builder.  I have tried shutting off Norton 360 services but I am not convinced that I have succeeded in shutting it off completely.  Questions are: (i) How do I shut off Norton 360 entirely without uninstalling?  (ii) Has anyone come across/solved this problem before?  (iii) Does anyone have any advice?  Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hi Dondari

Have you tried deleting your browser history (see help and support from the start menu).  The next option is flushing the DNS, when a web page loads for the first time data is stored in the computer so the next time its accessed it will load quicker but if the page is updated then the old data may conflict with the new.  Use a reputable website to find out how to flush the DNS for your particular specifications.

On the IE9 browser there is, activeX filtering, click tools on the browser to check or uncheck the function to see if it makes any difference.  Then set it to your requirements if it has no effect.

On the IE9 browser click tools, click compatibility view settings, it gives the option to add this website.

Hi dondari,

A bit more info please.

  • What is your operating system?
  • Which version of IE, FF and Chrome did you try to use?
  •  How did you upgrade to N 360 from NIS?  Did you uninstall, reboot, run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot and then install N 360?
  •  Have you run LiveUpdate (rebootng when requested) until such time as LiveUpdate responds "no updates found",
  •  After we make sure you have uninstalled NIS and installed N 360 properly we can try to deal with your other problems.
  •  In regards to shutting down N 360 the closest you can come (without uninstalling) is by Disabling Anti-virus Auto Protect and the Smart Firewall by right clicking on the system tray Norton Icon and selecting those two items (one at a time).

We'll be waiting for your response.

Yes, deleted history, temp files and flushed DNS.  I am running XP/IE8 so will try IE9.

The odd thing is that the majority of Website Builder works.  The Page Designer does not load ultimately giving the "Calling onPageLoad() failed: TypeError: PageDesignerIFrame.require is not a function" when I switch tabs.  It seems that my computer is waiting on the server (app6.websitetonight.com/WST.aspx)

Thx intesec.

Thx Yank:

- XP

- IE8.0.6001.18702, Firefox 20.0.1, Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m

- Upgraded from NIS to N360 based on website instructions when I renewed my annual subscription.  Did not flush Norton entirely.

- LiveUpdate is up-to-date

- Purchased N360 via internet (no disc) so not sure if I can remove and reinstall without grief

- Tried Disable Antivirus Auto-Protect and Smart Firewall with intermittent success (initially worked in Chrome but no longer).  Is spyware handled differently?  In N360 is there a way to exclude a specific website from being filtered/blocked?

I may be worng - but I do not believe IE9 will run on XP.

Thanks for the feedback dondari - I think we were both responding at the same time!  :smileywink:

It is considered best practice by most of us who have dealt with Norton for awhile to suggest doing a clean insatll whenever switching from one Norton Product to another - which is still possible - but let's try something a bit easier first.

Go to the main page of N 360, select Support > Get Support > letit update and run the scan.  See if it finds any errors and fixes them - or gives you a no errors found.

If no errors found, please run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool.  Although it should reatin your ID Safe data for passwords and logins (if you use it) please Export your ID Safe Data prior to running the tool - just to be on the safe side.  There is a video in the link I provided that explains what happens with the tool  Also, after running the tool, please run LiveUpdate (rebooting when requested) until LiveUpdate responds "no updates found".

Let us know if anything changes.

It may just be me - but what do you mean by: In N360 is there a way to exclude a specific website from being filtered/blocked?  Are you talking in regards to a firewall rule?  If so perhaps someone else can assist you thre as I am not very knowledgable in the firewall rules area.  I have used the default settings on my Norton porducts for the past 5 years or so and never had a reason to change rules.
