Google and Norton 360

Hello all!:smileyhappy:

I am a newbie, so didn't know where to post this. I used to be able to C&P Google Images into my emails, but now I can't. Does anyone know why? I have allowed Google on my Norton 360, but when I check my security history, there is always "Unauthorized Access Blocked" (Open Process Token) for Google and it also blocks Google Update or something like that. I am not very computer knowledgeable; I just don't understand why I could before and now I can't. TIA to anyone that can help me and I hope I know where to go to find if anyone posted on this! (lol) Seriously!

I go through Internet Explorer, if that helps, and I have a Dell PC.

Hi cityslicker,

My hunch is that this has nothing to do with Norton.  The "Unauthorized Access Blocked" entries you found have to do with Norton Product Tamper Protection preventing Google processes from accessing Norton files and processes in order to safeguard the integrity of your security program.  Norton is not otherwise blocking or interfering with Google.  It is very common to see these Google entries and they are harmless and have nothing to do with preventing pasting pictures into your emails.  Something else is probably causing the trouble.  What email client are you using?  Here is an article on how to put images into emails.  You might find something in it that may offer a clue as to why your attempts are no longer successful.  Or perhaps it might offer another method you could try that might work.  Make sure your email client is set to compose messages in HTML rather than plain text.

Hello cityslicker

Welcome to the Norton Community

What security program did you have before N360? If you had another security program, how was it removed? What operating system and service pack are you using? What version of N360 do you have installed now please? Sorry about all the questions, but it  may help to trouble shoot your problem. Thanks.

I had AVGE (sp?) and my son completely removed it. I have had Norton 360 (version 3.0) for two years now. I have Yahoo that I use for receiving and sending emails. I never had a problem with C&P until recently and haven't changed any settings, other than now I am allowing Google on my Norton 360, since I really wouldn't know what I was doing. I couldn't access that link!:smileysad: It's strange, but just a few days ago, Google let me C&P pics in my emails, but then it went back to not letting me!:smileysurprised: I just don't understand it! Oh, I have Windows Service Pack 3.

Is it only Google?  Can you copy and paste from other sites?

I can C&P from Photobucket on a board I go to, but I really don't post pics, other than in my emails. BTW, it does show on my end, but when I send it, just an empty box appears.

Hello cityslicker

Maybe something in this link will help you.

Hi cityslicker,

Most email clients either block images by default or have been configured by the user to do so.  Images can be used by spammers to see who actually has opened a message, thus confirming that the email address is real and can be profitably spammed from that point on.  You really do become a bigger target for spam if you have image viewing enabled.  So if this is a case of your recipient getting a placemarker instead of the image you sent, they should see a popup alerting that the message contains a blocked image with instructions to click somewhere within the popup to unblock the image.

Yahoo Mail's SpamGuard could also be set to block received images.
