Google Chrome opening with Google.com.ua - Ukrain/Russian version

I recently installed Norton WiFi that creates a VPN with a unique address when I connect.  When i open Chrome, with the default browser as Google, it comes up with the Russian/Ukraine version of the browser and search engine with the address bein www.google.com.ua

Any ideas why this is happening?  I was thinking that my Chrome was infected, deleted it, re-installed it and still the same problem.  The problem however goes away when I turn off the WiFi product.

Using this with home network.

I had the same issue today for the first time, the proposed solution to the problem in the other link was that the problem was with google. Doesn't sound like much of a solution.

I would recommend reading the thread that Peterweb has posted. It contains information concerning this topic. However, there hasn't been any updates for weeks, which is concerning. Hopefully, that can be sorted out soon. In addition to that, you can try looking at your Windows Locale settings. Maybe it got set to a different country for some reason. That happens when using proxy/VPN services from time to time.

I would consider it an unacceptable security risk if my data is actually flowing through another country without my consent.  This needs to be resolved promptly.

I have the same experience. When VPN shows location as Atlanta, GA I get Google Ukraine.

I close out or reset the location and as long as not Atlanta GA I get regular Google Search.

BTW   UA is the abbreviation for Ukraine.  Possibly someone misspelled USA ??

It is annoying, but you can get around it. I just hope there is nothing else going on with the pesky Ruskies and Ukes.

This has already been reported to Norton here.   https://community.norton.com/en/forums/when-wi-fi-privacy-turned-i-get-russian-google-search
