Google FLoC third party cookie replacement fiasco

Those of you who use Google Chrome as your browser should know that Google DID NOT, notify users whether or not they are included in their experiment. That is flat out bad business and hypocritical since, if you say you are all about privacy then respect the user. A great article coving it is nicely written here on the Malwarebytes forums.

Links in the article allow us to test whether we have a unique ID and are included. The second link is to Privacy Badger for their extension. I am currently using it in Opera GX with other Chrome Extension, no issues noted.

Thanks for the update and post. I'm sure more browsers will be doing much the same in the coming days. Floc is nothing more than a farce from a company needing serious anti-trust oversight here in the USA and North Americas. Google throws Microsoft under the bus on a regular basis as if they have the internet totally at their beckoning. It time for that shoe, to fit on their end.

Hi SoulAsylum:

The 15-Apr-2021 Malwarebytes Lab article Chrome Users, Here’s How to Opt Out of the Google FLoC Trial you referenced was updated 05-May-2021 and notes that "DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials and Malwarebytes Browser Guard both offer users the option to use their browser extension to block FLoC."

As far as I know Chrome is the only browser that has started testing FLoC, and browsers like Firefox and other Chromium-based browsers like Microsoft Edge and Brave do not currently have FLoC enabled, but the release notes <here> for my latest Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.2.4 extension (released 04-May-2021) state:

The Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Chrome v2.2.4 extension available <here> on the Chrome Web Store that I use in my MS Edge v90.0.818.56 browser now includes the same FLoC blocking.
