Hi,
One of my friends running norton internet security was hit by some king of virus/Backdoor.
HE apparently clicked a jpg which upon execution displayed an image from the movie "Book Of Eli"
and the jpg in the desktop vanished after a few moments!!
He immediately kept his mouse pointer on NIS 2011
which too vanished !
No suspicious process on task manager except uistub.exe which was a norton process!
a scan in safe mode detected Hacktool.rootkit
Upon system restart their was symantec message saying viruses or being cleaned and something similar !!
upon restart still the same hacktool.rookit was still present
Citest.sys file was still their!!!!!
My Question Is Does norton Not remove any rootkit infection!!! 
It failed to detect explorer.exe as well another virus perhaps
I don`t remember seeing 2 explorer process in XP SP3
