The Haritora Configurator (Early Access) app on the Google playstore is being flagged as malicious. If you select it in the store. Norton displays "Error " in popup box as if it trying to verify the software but is just throwing errors. Once the app is downloading the "verified by play protect" shield is green . Once the download finishes the red malware found box pops up. click the "learn more" and it takes me to a generic, what is a virus page.
This is a beta for haritorax full body trackers on android, it is actually a Japanese company named Shiftall, they make VR products.
One point to remember is that any beta software often has tracking/diagnostic code within the app which can be detected by a security product as malicious behaviour.
You're very welcome. We can ask someone at Norton to look into the issue of detection, false positives, etc. See what their results are. You can do this on your own by submitting the file and/or the download URL. Other submissions are also present for what you want to convey.
OK I see now, it seems to be good. Thank you for the research, and I apologize for being so abrupt and paranoid. Now is there someway to get Norton to unflag this for other users?
Not all antivirus solution will detect everything 100% of the time. VirusTotal will scan the hash and encryption of the file being submitted. And the Norton app on Android isn't as robust as Norton on Windows. VirusTotal is a recommended second stop most of us here suggest using when there are confusing instances where files give different results when downloading than being installed and vice versa.
FWIW!! A ton of app coming out of China are littered with stealthy malware. And as you stated its "early access" meaning BETA. Checking the actual download link in VirusTotal it comes up clean as shown at the link below.
