Have reinstalled operating system on laptop, how to get back Norton Internet Security?

 This is my first time on this forum, I won't pretend to be computer savvy as I'm not but it's as good a place to start as any....

 

Recently my laptop was acting up all strangely and in the end, rather than put up with it for any longer, I reinstalled the operating system with the help of the recovery disk that came with it when I bought it in September 2005.    I have Windows XP, the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite.

 

However, how to get back the version of Norton Internet Security that I had on my laptop before it crashed completely?  

 

It was "auto renewed" at the end of last year so I have a few months left and although it's a relatively small sum, it would annoy me if I would have to fork out again.   I'd rather not stay too long with Norton Internet Security 2005 which was on the recovery disk.

 

I still have the e-mail I was sent when it was renewed and I tried to retrieve what I bought from the Norton site but it won't recognise the order number in that e-mail. 

 

On what you could call a related note, would anyone know what I am periodically getting "Liveupdate Engine COM Module stopped working" warnings (or something on those lines) come up?  I've had everything reinstalled barely 24 hours.

Not sure which version of Norton program you had before your computer crashed. If you had Norton 2006/2007/2008 versions and if you have registered the Norton program under your email address, you can find associated Product Key in your Norton Account. If you rememeber the email address/password for your Norton Account, go to your Norton Account using this LINK and check whether you can find the product key. If you get the product key, then download the Norton Internet Security 2009 16.2 version from this LINK, install it and activate it using the Product key from your Norton Account.

 

If you had Norton 2005 version, you won't be having any Norton Account or Product key. Since Norton 2005 version is no longer available for download, you have to purchase any of the latest version. Then contact Customer services to add the remaining subscription from your previous subscription renewal to the current version which you have purchased.You cannot download the product with the order number of renewal as the renewal is just a service to extend the term of usage of your Norton program.
