I contacted an agent today about software updater message about a program needing attention (high risk). I kept running the updater and it wouldn't solve the issue. Agent asked me for a remote control session and I agreed. Soon as we got connected to the 2nd window, he circled it and asked me to let me know if I'm there. When I did, connection got lost. So I filled a form again to connect to another agent and that one asked for credit card information! I ended the chat. I'm freaking out. For further context, the day before that, I got a message about a man-in-the-middle attack to my device that Norton intercepted, so I was already on edge (the agent I contacted about it yesterday was unhelpful and annoyed). How do I escalate my concerns with Norton? I'm seriously worried that my device might have been breached at this point
the software updater has several threads on here mentioning issues with with some have reported after they used it it caused some new issue or problem, its not 100% accurate
as for the remote session i view those as a last resort, much of what they do you might have already done ( i.e. for example run live update, run the software updater..... )
for a more reliable update system would be the microsoft store, windows update
and depending on the program ( non windows) the site itself could list the latest updates

Norton detects a trusted network as a suspicious network
Applicable For: Windows
If your Norton product identifies a known trusted network as a Man In the Middle (MITM) attack, you can add the network to trusted networks list. Your Norton product notifies you when it identifies a MITM attack like behavior. If you click Trust in the alert, you will not get a notification the next time you access the network. If you accidentally clicked Disconnect, you can add it back to trusted networks using Security History.
