Help! I have to remove and reinstall Norton 360 every time I turn my laptop on!

Please can someone help with this problem? Each time I turn my pc on Norton 360 will not open or load and I get an error message : 8504 100. Norton then searches for a fix, which always fails. I have had a chat with one of your staff who remotely reinstalled Norton and then told me it was fixed, but it was not! I rang the helpline and the same thing happened with another colleague who told me it was fixed, but only until i swicth off the PC. I am having to remove and reinstall Norton every time I want to use my pc which is driving me mad!! I even went so far as to return my pc to factory default settings to see if it was due to a virus or something like that ( I don't know an awful lot about computers) but that hasn't stopped the problem either! I am running Windows 7. I would be so grateful if someone could suggest a solution. Many thanks x

Hi rubysunset,

Did you have any AV/securtiy program (s) installed prior to installing N 360?  If so how were they removed?  were ay removal tols for each of the products ran in addtion to the normal uinstall from Control Panel either manually or via N 360 install?  Do you still have any securtiy programs installed other than N 360.

Please let us know if you did or still do and what the name of them are and we'll try to get this cleaned up for you - if that is the cause.

Something else to try is once you open N 360, clcik on Support frm the mainpage and then Get Support, let it update and run and see if it finds any error with you installation.

We'll be awating your response.

Hi, thanks for replying! I clicked on the 'Support' window and then 'get support' and it came back saying an installation issue had been fixed, however the problem still remains after I shut down and restart.

I bought the lenovo laptop new with Norton 360 but when I first put the disk in the computer, it said that Kaspersky AV software was already on my pc. Norton uninstalled all the Kaspersky files before it went ahead with it's own installation. I cannot find any traces of Kaspersky still on my pc, but maybe you know something I don't!

I have never downloaded any other type of AV software. Any ideas?

Thank you x

Hi rubysunset,

You said something that caught my eye - Lenovo.  We have seen confluicts on Lenovo systems between Norton and both Rapid Reboot and Instant Reset.  Please check and see if these programs are on your system and if so disable them one at a time to see if one (or both) are causing your problem.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi, my PC has the 'One Key Recovery' icon on the desktop which I used to wipe it back to it's default factory settings, but I cannot find anything called 'instant reboot'. Do you think this could be causing the repeat problem?
