HELP! I need help reinstalling Norton AntiVirus

For some reason (unknown even to the paid computer tech), my Norton AntiVirus stopped working.  A message box kept appearing which was headed: "Error: 'Norton AntiVirus 2008 was unable to scan your computer for infections' (3019,6)"

 

I followed the instructions, which didn't work.  I clicked on the bottom of the message which said something like "if this doesn't work..." which brought me to another box which directed me to uninstall Norton AntiVirus and then to reinstall it.

 

I followed the directions, I have my Product Key, but I can find nowhere on this website to re-download the program.  I don't have a disc because I purchased it online and downloaded the program.  The closest thing I found (and now I don't even remember which page of this website I found it on), was that if I had purchased the product more than 60 days ago, that I would have to purchase it again!!! (WTF?!?!)  My subscription isn't over until March.  Why should I purchase the product again now when I uninstalled it because the Norton directions said to do so!

 

Does anyone know what I should do?  I even tried calling the Norton's Premium Support number (although I had no intention of paying for a phone call which costs more than the product), held on the phone for 2 HOURS, and then finally hung up after never having connected to a human being.  :(  :(  :(

 

The only protection I have now is Spybot.  (I have a feeling that if I have to repurchase an antivirus program, it is NOT going to be from Norton.)
