Help install a software that Norton blocks

I am trying to install a software on my Windows Vista laptop. NAV 2009 does not let me install it. The software keeps track of all my passwords. I have used it in the past.

 

Can somebody help me install this software. I know there is a file exclusion option but I don't know how to use it. Software has only one exe file but it probably creates more during installation and changes registry entries also.

It detects it as infostealer and deletes my .exe file that i am trying to copy from a USB drive.

I think you can disable the Auto-protect feature and then install the Norton product.

 

Open the main user Interface of Norton AntiVirus 2009> move the slider to turn off AntiVirus option. Then try to install the software. Let us know how it goes. Make sure you are enabling this option after installing the software.

If you are able to install the program after disabling the AutoProtect, add the respective .exe file to the file exclusion list before re-enabling the AutoProtect back. Here are the steps:

1. Start Norton 2009 program.
2. In the Computer pane, click Settings.
3. Under Exclusion/Low Risks, click Configure next to Scan Exclusions.
4. Under Scan Exclusions, click Add.
5. Browse and select the folder or file you would like to exclude and click OK. If you want to include subfolders within the folder, check Include Subfolders.
6. Under Auto-Protect Exclusions, click Add.
7. Browse and select the folder or file you would like to exclude and click OK. If you want to include subfolders within the folder, check Include Subfolders.
8. Click Apply > OK.
