Some while ago I switched to Norton 360 for my security.
Recently I've found that the Sonar feature of Norton 360 is rejecting Giveawayoftheday (http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/) program installations (note: Giveawayoftheday is a website that offers a different paid software program for free every day).. It views them as malware/potential malware and quarantines them. From my research I understand that this is because Giveawayoftheday files come wrapped in a particular kind of security envelope that is commonly used by hackers and spammers.
Sometimes I can get around this by 1) disabling a) antivirus b) firewall 2) if this doesn't work (either Sonar itself is not turned off or it rejects the Giveaway program after installation) going into 360 security history and taking the installation file (sometimes the winzip itself, sometimes just the setup.exe file) out of quarantine using the restoration option. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work or becomes so complicated that I give up.
Obviously I would rather not disable my Norton 360 antivirus and firewall.
Does anyone know of any solution to this problem? Is there any settings I can adjust in Norton 360/Giveawayoftheday that will prevent Sonar from seeing Giveawayoftheday installations as potential malware?
My heartfelt thanks in advance. This is getting very frustrating!!!!
