Norton doesn’t block web pages unless your using the Web Safe plug in but even with that you can still enter the site. Mind posting a link to which site you cannot get into.

It would be usefull to know what browser you are using

Can someone tell me how to stop Norton from automatically blocking a web page? Its a hidden block...read below to understand.

Just so you know, Norton doesn't say its blocking the page, but the page can only be accessed if Norton is uninstalled.  Ran into this problem in the beta too but the coders manually fixed it.

Ok, sorry for the delay. Btw, Norton doesn't tell you it blocked anything...but uninstalling allows you to get to the page otherwise you get a not responding/timeout error.

Firefox 3.01, 3.02, 3.03 & Firefox/minefield builds are updated to current trunks as they come out ~3.1b2 (I believe as i can't open to check while FF3.03 is running).

As for the webpage...its any webpage that hosts the Hotspot Shield(www.anchorfree.com, www.anchorfree.com/hotspotshield, www.hotspotshield.com).

I can access sites that host it like CNET.com and others, but any direct sites I can not.

If (on the off chance) you are in the USA and access it ok with NIS2009 then you will need to get someone from another country to try.  My guess is that just because USA NIS users could access it (if they can), it is likely blocked when outside the USA, as in my case. I'm in Canada.

The website blocking is very frustrating as Norton doesn't say its being blocked.  Yet an uninstall allows you to access it no problem.

When Norton Confidential - nothing to do with Safe Web - Blocks a Web Page, you are should a Web Page saying something like: “Fraudulent Web Page Blocked” with a Red X.  This does not happen…?

I just clicked and viewed all those web pages you posted. No problems what so ever.

Great and your located in the USA Dieselman743?

I'm betting yes.

For further reference I'm using Vista 32 bit. 4 GB ram, 8600GS vid. latest drivers for all devices as required by MS and HP with SP1.

Yes I am in the US.

Just testing it on another machine with no Symantec installed and the last two are working properly but the first page isn't working as well.

I'm in Europe by the way

The first page does work. Its linked wrong. There is a comma at the end which needs to be removed in the address bar.

Sorry I should have placed spaces between the web pages....my point was that when manually typing them in..they only work with NIS if you are in the USA.  If you are outside of the USA the pages will time out.

So Dieselman743, I fully expected you and every other NIS user in the USA to get to the site.

On the opposite side, I expect that anyone outside of the USA with NIS will have troubles.

Hi ismanager-

In order to narrow down the problem, can you try the following test :

Disable Smart Firewall by :

         - Open "Norton Internet Security" main UI

         - Under Internet, Turn off "Smart Firewall" for 15 mins.

         - Now run your tests by visiting the website you have problem with and see if this fixes the problem.

Sorry mahesh_pisal.  It will be definately something I'll try again next time.

As for site access, I assumed it got fixed on Norton's end.  All my computers with NIS suddenly started showing the site a few days back.  Every computer without NIS never had any interruption in the site to begin with.

I just assumed the NIS techs had tweaked one of the NIS sections to stop it from blocking that site.  Similar in fashion to when they fixed the blocked Yahoo pages during the beta.

As it stands the web sites are viewable under NIS, but I will keep the forums notified if any other sites appear to be blocked.

Thanks for your quick response. We will keep an eye as well.

Mahesh

Do you want some of us to try to access that page?
