Heuristic virus

Hello,

The system I use is a MS WinXP, Home Ed. Ver2002, Serv Pk 3, with a 3400+ AMD Processor.  I've feel I've been tagged with a Heuristic Virus.  I have all of the symptoms another user had (bazookajoe01 around 07-20-2009).   This virus was identified as I was running a scan.  I would like to know if the solution provide to bazookajoe01 will work for me.  I plan to follow the same advice (as I have already printed out the solution, and downloaded "GMER" and  "Avenger" files) given him and post my attachments.  The individual that assisted bazookajoe was users "delphinium" and "Quads".  If these user are no longer a part of the community, any assistance from elsewhere is greatly appreciated.  One last thing, the solution called for running the SysProt; however, I can not find that dowloadable file for free.  The original link provided was http://homepages.slingshot.co.nz/~crutches/SysProt, and I do not believe it works.   Please help, this virus has got to go.

Ok.  So what should be my course of action?  Any advice would be helpful?  The only thing I have done was download and run the GMER file.

Is it just that or has your Norton detected and reported Heuristic Virus? The HV malware is very old and frankly I almost can not believe it is not detected by all the common av software. If this were a new variant, and I have no advice that new variants of this old malware are in the wild, then the tools you refer to probably will not help because they are several years old. If you do not go elsewhere then you might considering actually reporting the problems you experience, and the Norton version you are using.

This user doesn't get it either, hahahaha

It is not that the Heuristic detection is old as a Heuristic or SONAR detection could be anything and even a Heuristic detection for a legit file (False Positive). The detection is not of a family name, so a user can't  just look up, say Zeroaccess, Pihar, Tracur, etc.  looking up Heuristic virus or similar, would give results for lots of different malware (files) and false positives.

The thread creator looked up Heuristic ..... but came up with a result for one family only and the custom removal which was for TDL2.
