Hide My IP Address

Greetings,

Is there a Norton product that allows me to hide my IP address? I don't need to pretend I'm in another location or country. I just need to have my IP address hidden.

Thanks,

Shane.

Shane,

Doing that could get you a spot on a black list or perhaps a visit from the local authorities. If you use a router your system is hidden and better protected. Your ISP knows where and when you are connected and that won't be hidden.

The short answer to your question is - no, there is no Norton product that will spoof your IP. for you.

Hi Shane,

Norton does not provide a product to conceal your IP address, but there are a number of anonymizers available, such as TOR.  There are some downsides to using these (trouble with the local authorities is not one of them, however), so unless you have some compelling reason to conceal your address, you are probably better off leaving it visible - your ISP probably changes your address periodically, anyway.  Please see the following for some pertinent observations on the subject:

SOJ,
Agreed that hiding it isn't a crime. The activities that require hiding it may be the thing that draws attention.

Stay well and surf safe

There is no Canadian legislation making it illegal to hide your IP address. I know it’s illegal in China to surf anonymously (but that is an extreme case).

I have a dynamic IP address from my ISP. My router requests a new lease about once a month.

Thanks for the feedback.

Shane.

Hi,
Most browsers offer an anonymous mode for browsing without collecting too much trash. Won't hide your IP but it will prevent sites from leaving a cookie so they can find you again.
