Hijack this

Hi All,

I've been having probs with my net connection lately. I called Road Runner and someone said it might be malware. I've scanned, in safe mode, with N360P V4 and Malwarebytes, as well as using CCleaner regularly and have come up clean every time. I'm at an impasse and wonder if anyone here knows how to read the HiJack This logs and would take a look at mine...and let me know what you think? Thanks.

The following entry seems to be suspicious:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [V0350Mon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\V0350Mon.exe

I also noticed that you have Mcafee AntiPhishing Toolbar listed in hijackthis log which may probably conflict with Norton Toolbar. So, I would suggest to uninstall Mcafee AntiPhishing Toolbar for time being and check for this problem. Let us know the results.

Yogesh

Hi Yogesh. I don't see the McAfee toolbar listed in my programs. Morevoer, I only have the N360 toolbar in my browser. I know something came free with the PC but I had deleted it. I've run CCleaner several times and so don't think it's a "remnant" of a missing program...or is it? Any idea what I should do about the other thing?

BTW, I checked the V0350mon.exe and it says it could either be a virus or somthing for creative cam, which I do have. http://www.whatsrunning.net/whatsrunning/QueryProcessID.aspx?Process=17824

Strange...either or 0.o?

This would appear to be the entry for the McAfee scan

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

V0350mon.exe  could be a false positive depending on its path.  You could submit it to Symantec here.  You would be better not to fix that one until you know if it is malicious.  It might be better to quarantine it manually using Norton.  That would protect your system while you check and allow you to restore it later if it is needed by the Creative Cam.

Thanks Delphinium. I sent the V0350mon.exe to norton via your link. What should I do about the other thing i.e. how do I remove it 0.o?

By this thread It wasn't Norton that detected "V0350Mon.exe" Rather it's in the Hijackthis log and Yogesh stated it looked suspicious.

From above

"The following entry seems to be suspicious:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [V0350Mon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\V0350Mon.exe"

Quads

360Premier:

If you reopen Hijackthis, you can tick the cAfee entry and click "Fix checked."  It is just a leftover remnant.  Don't check anything else.

I removed the toolbar thing but how do I quarantine the V0350 thing with Norton?

"with N360P V4 and Malwarebytes, as well as using CCleaner regularly and have come up clean every time

You don't quarantine with Norton a file that is legit and not detected because of this. You have Norton quarantine what it detects.

Quads

So I'm still unsure if I have a "bug" but something else I've noticed is that there are grey boxes with a white line appearing on my document icons?!?!? Could it be from Norton or...?

I've attached a pic...er tried to. How do I attach a screen shot?

Hello 360premier

Here are the instructions on how to add a screenshot.
