Home Networking & Norton 360 V4

I just set up a wireless network at home a few days ago and noticed in Norton, Network mapping functions,if I want to use it it says it has to install some network security files. Should I use the network mapping function on all my computers and do I want to install the extra security files since my network seems to be running fine.

Thank you very much.

Hi corgi11

The Network Security Map is there, primarily, to let you view the status of the machines on your home network in one convenient screen. You do not have to have it enabled it you do not wish to.

What are the extra Network Security Files it wants to install????

Hi corgi11

It wants to install files and set up Network Security in order that you can have control, from the interface, over the levels of trust between devices on your network. If you look in Norton 360 V4 Help you will find an explanation of the various trust levels that can be set up.

Hi Corgi11,

The installation of Norton 360 V4 works in such a way. The network drivers used by the Network Security Map won't get installed at first. When you start configuring the Network Security Map, then only it will get installed. That's a normal behavior, and you can proceed with installing those. The following Symantec Article will provide you more information:
