How are keyloggers detected with Norton 360 and how are we notified?

About 2 months before I chose Norton 360 for Windows, I was victim of a keylogger that had seased my main email and my Steam account. I had discovered it within 24h of it happening and managed to get bak both account. No damages were detected.

I am usually very careful when going on internet. I had no way of finding out I had a keylogger.

My question: now that I have Norton 360, how will it detect I have a keylogger and how will it notify me?`

Is it through a normal scan (smart, full, live detection, …)?

I’m not recalling Norton detect a keylogger.
I’d hope Norton Auto-Protect would notify you rather than a static scan.

One thing I suggest for general browsing is NOT using an account/login that has admin privileges. Creating a “local” account to log into the computer that has non admin attributes will keep malicious software from having the admin privileges it would otherwise have to propagate into the OS that it normally would have. Antivirus software and setting your UAC “user account controls” will also help deter malware.

Before choosing Norton, I had asked an agent (human) on the Norton chat if Norton can detect Keylogger. The agent said I should go with the Deluxe package. And when I asked him to give me the URL where it says Norton detects Keylogger, he gave me one and it was indicated. But every time I want to go back where this is said, I can never find it back. So now I have a doubt about this …

Were you able to find the keylogger on your computer? It wasn’t clear whether that’s been resolved.

A reminder to everyone: Keyloggers can infect your smart phones too and since most people use their phones to check emails and such, don’t ignore those devices when checking for malware.

What I discovered was my main email and Steam account taken over. I was highly suspecting the presence of a Keylogger. I do not recall if I saw some indications of the presence of a Keylogger but in my mind there were no other way they could have gotten my password. They first accessed my main email and then discovered I had a Steam account tied to it.

My way of fixing it was to completly re-install Windows-10 and go for another anti-virus. It is on the recommendation of the Norton chat agent that I chose to buy the Deluxe package.

As a resolution complement, I installed a dual boot of WIndows-10 and Ubuntu 24.04. I now many use my Ubuntu for anything internet. The only thing I use my Windows for is for games that I cannot run in Ubuntu.

The purpose of this thread was to get a confirmation that Norton will detect any Keylogger.

I see from your screenshots the mention of Norton Deluxe vs Keylogger.

Thank you.

Deluxe refers to the subscription plan…e.g., up to 5 devices & 50GB cloud storage.
Deluxe does not refer to specific protections…e.g., keylogger.

“I do not recall if I saw some indications of the presence of a Keylogger but in my mind there were no other way they could have gotten my password.”

There are many different ways a cyber criminal could have obtained your info Keylogging software is just one way and the presence of a keylogging software can be detected by antivirus software but not 100% of the time.

Just saw this. Can we say, then, that non-Deluxe Norton 360 also contains protection against keyloggers?

Norton says:
Norton 360 Deluxe provides strong protection to help prevent keyloggers and other forms of malware from compromising your device and spying on your activity.
