How can I set the scan to run daily?

It appears that you can set the antivirus scan to run weekly or monthly, but not daily.  It also seems that there is some kind of idle time scan that it tries to guess when you aren't busy with the computer and it tries to run a scan then.

 

I prefer to have my scans run nightly, at a particular time of night.  This way it does not interfere with other things that I have running on the computer.  Also this prevents me from having to wait for the app to sense that I have started using the computer and then wait for it to pause the scan before I can start really using the computer.

 

Is there any way to set it to run nightly instead of weekly?  I would much prefer that over "idle-time" scanning.

Hi,

 

If you are using the latest version of Norton 360 5.0, you have to disable the Idle Time Scan first.

1. Start Norton 360.

2. Click Settings.

3. Under Detailed Settings, click Antivirus.

4. On Scans and Risks tab, click on the status bar next to Idle Time Scans to turn it off.

 

Then follow the steps mentioned in the following Symantec KB:

Eventhough this is for Norton 360 4.0, the steps are same for Norton 360 5.0 except the path. The path you can use here is

"C:\Program Files\Norton Product\Engine\5.x.x.x\navw32.exe"

where Norton Product is the name of your Norton product and 5.x.x.x is the latest version.
