the product periodically presents a pop-up message that says, "Norton Internet Security is currently performing bakground tasks while your computer is idle". there is no other explanation.. i do not need a norton message that tells me the software is working in my pc's background, whether idle or otherwise.. i assume that is what it is supposed to do.. i only need an alert if a norton pop-up should a threat present itself to my system and norton is dealing with it.. i use the norton product on 2 pcs: windowsxp and windows vista.. i have talked with norton support on the phone.. while the discussion was courteous and helpful, changes in product settings (download intelligence) did not remove the message from its appearances on my monitor.. i really would like to suppress a message that means "everything's o.k., no problems".. "no news is good news" (ancient journalist slogan)
