How do I add an exception for a web site that the safeweb browser plugin says is unsafe, but I want to visit regularly anyway? I’m getting the ‘not safe’ red circle for a site I always visit and know it’s safe. I don’t care about Symantec’s opinion.

I did. I’m assuming at this point there is no way for a user to add an exception. So, I turned the browser plugins off. Probably the last thing Symantec wants users to do. It’s a pity they treat their customers like children who can’t make an educated choice.
Sorry, I suspect that it just isn't possible for one person to make a judgment call that might affect so many other users without checking it out. You may feel that the site is safe but if you were able to make a global exception for that site and were wrong, Symantec's reputation would suffer.
It just takes time and feedback for it to work well for all.
I can't agree. With that reasoning, Symantec's reputation could suffer more from me turning the plugins completely off then from me being able to add to an allow list. That is what I am forced to do now.
It is possible for a person to make a judgement call {aka. risk assessment} when they've used a site for years and never been infected. This was my case, anyway. The exploits listed on the site report have all been addressed by Microsoft (according to another person that commented on the site's safety before I did).
But it isn’t just you. If everyone were able to do what you wanted to do, there would be nothing to stop malicious users from changing a warned site to a safe site. Unfortunately, that nis what would happen. It would help those placing iFrame launchers and trojans to be able to just click the old, “Hey this site is safe button” and then where would we be.
