I use (shareware) GeoSetter for geotagging my photo files. GeoSetter uses ExifTool. Yesterday, I updated GeoSetter (& ExifTool). When I next executed Geosetter, Exiftool was flagged as a security threat (presumably because it writes to the EXIF data in image files). Norton Internet Security 17.8.0.5 wanted to reboot & I was given the choices of now, remind me in 1, 12, 24 hours. I picked 24 hours. *.jpf_exiftool_tmp is shown in Nortons exclusion list, altho' I don't remember setting that exclusion. I assume that I (somehow at an earlier date) told Norton to "allow/exclude" ExifTool. I certainly would never have thought up a name like *.jpf_exiftool_tmp on my own.
Again today, I was warned of an unspecified "Security Risk" & given the same choices about rebooting. I again picked "remind me in 24 hours". I then ran a quick scan, which found & removed tracking cookies, & there were no unresolved risks/threats. I'll start a full system scan as soon as I post this.
I'm assuming that I need to tell Norton to "allow" ExifTool, but don't know how or which name(s) to use.
