Unable to block or allow certain websites (using a Windows PC / Edge browser)
I’m new to Norton Parental Control and feel I must be doing something wrong. Under house rules, if I allow the web category of Arts, Entertainment Music, but add Exceptions to block YouTube - it does not block it at all. In Exceptions, I’ve also allowed YouTubeKids. Alternatively, if I toggle to block Arts, Entertainment & Music, then both YouTube and YouTubeKids do not work.
Likewise I’ve included twitter, x, instagram in the blocked websites, but they are all accessible on the browser - perhaps because “Email, Chat & Messaging” is allowed overall.
Am I doing something wrong in this set up?
I’ve solved this, realised my previous anti-virus was still running and clashing.
However one issue remains is that Youtubekids does not work, even though it is allowed as an exception. It opens the site, but the videos do not play.
Hi @SSI
Thanks for reaching Norton Family forums.
Generally all navigated URLs are monitored by Norton Family now, as a result allowing youtubekids.com alone is not sufficient as youtubekids load
the video using googlevideo.com, likewise there are few other URLs required to load the videos properly.
So please add the below URLs to whitelist in addition to youtubekids.com
“play.google.com”
“googlevideo.com”
“accounts.youtube.com”
“families.youtube.com”
Please check and let us know after making the above change.
Thanks
Norton Family Team.
That sorted it out - thank you!
