Just started getting live update errors - SymPlatform_Mac-NS (201106050)
When I double click on that event, it says live update error. I have repeated events like this starting from yesterday. A manual live update logs the event, but still says live update error.
Thank you for reporting this on the Norton Community. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We have fixed this issue now. Could you please check and let us know if this issue persists? Thank you.
I have given up and moved to another product. I have been a decades long Norton customer, but the lack of updates and support for this product is completely unacceptable. We are going on for months now with no solution nor any kind of estimate on when this will be fixed, if ever.
I have moved to Intego, and the firewall and virus products work flawlessly with Big Sur. It can be done, Norton just has to decide to put the right resources to get this product fixed.
This has also been a recurring problem on my MacBook Pro (presently Big Sur 11.1 - Norton360 8.6.1.) Looking at my Security History the current problem first appears on or about 6 Jan 2021.
Am I fully protected or not? It seems to me that there has been ample time to fix, and I am not the only one with this problem.
Fortunately, in some respects, my subscription run out in a few days time as I am being constantly reminded.
Can someone running 8.6 on Big Sur 11.1 check in settings/activity/security history/all/today, and see if you are getting repeated update attempts for SymPlatform_Mac-NS?
I am seeing repeated entries from live update for this module and when I double-click the entry it states at the very top of the window that an update error occurred. I am getting this on all my Mac systems and a complete reinstall of Big Sur and Norton didn't fix the issue. I am concerned if my definitions are updating properly.
