I have looked at the Norton 360 Help but I cannot see how to free up space in Secure Online backup. I have the Standard 2Gb and this has been sufficient for the three or so years I have had N360. When I use Windows Explorer to look at Norton Backup Drive(s) it shows it is occupying 1,460,000 KB but since may 2011, whenever Backup tries to run it says there isn't enough space. I changed the backup location to my C: drive and ran Backup with the same selection set and it is 1,088,000 KB.
So how is the backup organised in Secure Online Storage? If it was trying to write a complete new 1,088,000 KB I could understand that 1.46 + 1.088 is bigger than 2Gb but for the last 3 years I believe the backup has simply incremented with new files. I don't have big stuff like photos going to online backup and there isn't anything which has suddenly upped my data storage requirements.
The problem started when I installed v5 of Norton 360 in at the end of May 2011. Norton Community pages got me sorted out - (Norton wouldn't run at all), so thanks for the help. I had to recreate the Backup Set (not difficult as its basically e-mail and documents) and I gave it the same name as the original. My impression is that Secure Online Storage 'sees' my Backup set as now being different from the old one so wants to put it alongside the original rather then increment or update the original.
So how do I get Secure Online Storage to recognise my old and new backup as one and the same? Or how can I clear the whole thing out and start again?
I have read in the Help how to delete individual files from Backup Sets but I have not found any information about deleting the whole backup. The Help refers to deleting "Backup Sets" but explains the term means the configuration index of what to backup. That doesn't help me because I want to delete the files which have been placed in Secure Online Storage so I want to keep the "Backup Set" configuration.
