I have used Norton for quite a while. My neighbor called me over and he has Norton 360 .
It appears Norton is blocking all his web searching because they appear to be redirected to a site " https : // qalitygigant . com". Hope I spelled it correctly. Will a full scan get rid of this? Or is some other action available through Norton to fix this? It appears Norton has done the quick scans, but it is still on the computer
He's thinking about buying the malwarebytes and getting rid of the Norton. I don't feel they are interchangeable but he feels since Norton couldn't get rid of it and malwarebytes did.
It looks like you may have picked up a PUP, a Possibly Unwanted Program. While they are annoying, they do not cause damage to your system. Some people actually want the 'Features' offered by these programs. They are usually downloaded alongside a legitimate download when you do not uncheck the option for the additional download.
Norton products concentrate on malware that can damage your system, that is why some PUPs are not detected.

Before I posted I had him start a full Norton scan. After posting I went back and the scan was done and it showed a Trogen2 virus which it said was serious and removed it. We rebooted and went back in and got the same Red level X message you show above (Malicious Site Blocked) where ever he tried to go.
Maybe, run Norton LiveUpdate until no updates + machine restart (not Shut down) and run Norton full scan, again.
I'm curious if Norton still detects "a Trojan2 virus".

Norton users run Malwarebytes free on demand scan and some run Malwarebytes Premium along side Norton.
Does your neighbor run Norton Safe Web extension -?
Maybe, run Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension - https://www.malwarebytes.com/browserguard/

Thank you for your responses. The neighbor wouldn't knowingly put browser extensions on. Before I posted I had him start a full Norton scan. After running it and rebooting he was able to go to the sites he had in the past. I guess MalwareBytes isn't free anymore so we are on the 14 day trial, then he will decide if he wants to buy it.

After that I went home and read these posts. So you were right on about getting the malwarebytes.
I was a little confused about the first post where the link says the threat is equal to a low risk Yellow coded caution whereas the Red X serious threat level message is shown, which is what we were getting.
