Thanks for the reply, but I already solved the problem thanks to these people. They are very fast and knowledgeable and had me up and running in no time.
The main reason why I wanted to uninstall Norton is it a) wasn't running and B) my whole system was being blocked from the internet which made me think it was Norton firewall.
I uninstalled Nortons with Norton Remover or some such on here and internet access was fully restored.

Glad you got it sorted - but am curious if I missed it or not when I read the info in your link - did they in fact tell you to run the Norton Removal Tool or did you do it on your own without their recommendation?
I removed myself without advice from them. I figured my internet issue had to be firewall related as windows update was working, but everyother program was being blocked. He had already run through completely resetting the whole internet options without success. It seemed logical and worked great. Especially when the next step he wanted me to try was to completely reset windows to a reinstall from scratch state

From the help you received from the other forum, it seems you had other issues with the system that may have corrupted the Norton installation.
As the system seems to have been deemed clean. you should be able to reinstall the Norton product again.
FYI - If you need assistance installing NSS let us know - you must be logged into a Comcast account and using the residential modem associated with that account in order to download NSS.
