How Do I Whitelist a Program/App/Game?

Hey guys, I just started playing The Elder Scrolls Online and have been constantly booted from the game. I built this system last summer:

:-:Cooler Master Storm Scout II Advanced w/6 Notcua NF-F12s :-:ASUS ROG Maximus
VI Hero :-:Intel i7 4770k @4.5 on Corsair H80i :-:ASUS 780 GTX Direct
CUII :-:Corsair Vengeance CMZ 16G @1600 C9 :-:Corsair AX860 :-:Samsung 840Pro
256GB :-: WD Velociraptor 500GB :-:Win 7 64 Home Premium

It has been running smooth without issue on several other games. I spoke to TESO cs and they said I should be crushing this game with my specs; and I do, when I am able to stay logged in.

I am not crashing, Im getting booted from the server. I forwared the ports to their server on my router and Im still getting booted.

After a recent boot I noticed that my Norton IS had run an update, then noticed it happen again. I tried sleeping norton but Im still getting booted from the game and back into the lobby.

How do I get Norton to be buddies with TESO?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi,

Assuming that the game is OK yoou can go into NIS and find the listing where it is being blocked and allow the game.

Note:  If it is trying to change any of the core Norton programs there is no exemption that will work if you want to keep NIS working to protect you.

Keep us posted

You don't need to open any ports to play ESO.

I very much doubt its the NIS firewall causing your DCs.

Hi uccellini
I’m not sure what the servers are like on the elder scrolls online but I’m guessing if you’re playing that you use your computer a lot for gaming so here’s my 2 cents. Have you tried playing any of your other games online to see of they have drop outs? Because it could just be a problem with the game or maybe a hiccup on your end I’m not sure. But as Apostolos said I don’t think you have to open any ports to be able to play. I have some experience with playing games on my computer. Before I stopped playing games on it I used to play a few online games on steam and for me to be able to find servers or connect to friends using LogMeInHamachi I had to allow the games through my firewall. But that’s all I know about it.

I hope in someway this helped.
Regards

Hey guys where do I go to allow it  to pass through my firewall? It keeps happening and just with this particular game, I run several other games fine without dropping out. Also, I have friends playing and they are not having this issue. Thanks again for the help. really appreciate it.

It's not a firewall issue. Norton automatically gives it all the access it needs, and you don't need any open ports to play it.

Hi
I’m just wondering what actually happens when you try and play the game? Does it just completely crash and minimise? Or is there a message from Norton? Because I just find it weird how your other games are running fine but this one isn’t.

Thanks a lot

Norton is showing the program accessing the net as simply detected, and allowed. I think your problem lies elsewhere, and not with the Norton function.

It might be worth contacting the game's developers.

Hello

Does your game get disconnected from other servers also or just this one server? Have you been banned by the Admin of the server? I am an online gamer, but I am not familiar with that game. You can make sure that the game's exe is listed so that Norton doesn't interrupt your game while you are playing. Please go to Settings --> General --> Silent Mode Settings --> User Specified Programs --> Configure After clicking on the ADD button, you can add your game and the location of the game's exe. By using this setting, you are assuring that Norton will not interrupt you while playing.

You can also consult the Forum for that game and see what they say about it. Sometimes also if you have just updated a vid driver, it may be too new for the game and that could block you also or cause you to get kicked. I would also suggest that you run a tracert to the ip of the game server and see what or if there are any blockages to the server. This problem may be due to the routing to the game server which might have to do with your ISP. Are you using a low ping server to you? As you can see, there are many things besides Norton which could be the problem.

Please do come back to us and let us know how you made out. Thanks.

As an afterthought, if you are getting booted from the server, I would try emailing the Admin of the server and check to see if you have been banned from the server. Another possibility is that the server admin may see some file in your computer which it thinks is a cheat. These are all things that you should contact the server admin about.  If you use the silent mode setting, then Norton will not interrupt your game to install any updates and not even run any quick scans or anything. Once you finish playing, then Nortonn will do what it has to do. If there is a server listing for this game, then definitely try another server with low ping to you.
