How Does The Norton Utilities 16 Licence Agreement Work Now?

With version 15, it was that you could only stay with version 15 even if a new version was released in the licence period.  Has the product now changed to a similar licence as with NIS, where as long as you have a valid licence, you can upgrade to the latest version?  I only ask seeing as you now have to validate the install.

Thanks in advance.

Just thought I would give this a Bump, as it hadn't been answered..

Give it time. The bump doesn't do a thing for it. The admin I asked will get to it as soon as he can. Who knows, there may be others with the correct answer.

I know the answer and I'm sure most people here do as well, is this an open question or do we need to bother the boss?

I didn't realise that you had to mark posts with who you would like to answer them.  Should I also put the names or relevant groups in order of preference?

Since no one has answered your question, I will do my best.

As far as I am aware, NU is NOT a subscription based product.  Once you've bought it it's yours.  When new versions are released you normally need to buy again.  I say normally because I have seen where Symantec have released a new version and given those that had recently purchased the previous version the chance to upgrade either free or at a reduced price.  I can't remember which now, sorry.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks for that.

I had a feeling it was going to be that way, as per NU15 I have, but because you had to now "activate" it, I wondered if the situation had changed.

Unfortunately, the world we live in, and the people in it, have caused software companies to have to add 'activation' features to protect themselves from 'sharing'.
