How I can see

How I can see  the place when Norton protect Office software ?

I didn't fine it

Nav 2014 , win7 premium

thanks  in advance

Hi indior,

As lmarci stated, it's under Settings/Computer/Computer Scan unless you're using NIS v 21 (I'm not sure whether or not that would be NIS 2014) in which case that option no longer appears.

Edit to add: I just noticed there is a thread about this option over on the N360 board which provides some background on why the feature was removed and how you are still protected:

Sorry I don't have thus line in Nav2014

you gave a picture of nav2013 .

Can any one help ?

Thanks in advance

Hi indior:

roane is correct - I received a message from elsewhere confirming that the setting for Microsoft Office Automatic Scans has been removed from Norton v. 21.x (2014) products.  Your Computer Scan settings in NAV v. 21.1.0.18 should appear similar to elsewhere's screenshot here of NIS v. 21.0.0.89.

gena also posted a similar question here, and from what I understand Symantec felt there was no need to have a separate setting for Microsoft Office Automatic Scans in Norton v. 21.x (2014) products since the Antivirus Auto-Protect feature is designed to automatically scan for security risks when you open any document, including files created by MS Office applications.

Sorry if my screenshot from NIS v. 20.x (2013) in message # 2 created any confusion.

Thanks for the reply

So office is protected  although  Norton remove that line for Nav 2014

thanks for the reply

Hi indior:

Yes, it's my understanding that Microsoft Office documents will still be scanned for security risks such as malicious macros and infected embedded objects in NAV 21.x and other Norton 2014 products even though the setting for configuring Microsoft Office Automatic Scan in no longer available.

The information I provided in message # 2 does not apply for the latest Norton 2014 products, so if you'd like to unmark this post as your preferred solution you can click on the Options link in the top right corner of that post and select "Unmark as Accepted Solution" as long as you're logged into the forum.

roane hit the nail on the head and the link they provided gave all the info in regards to why the setting was removed and what Norton does in regards to scanning Microsoft Office docs.

I also took the liberty to move the solution to roane's post so that others may see the correct solution.
