How long is a Product Key valid?

Does a NIS product key expire,, I aks this because I had NIS2011 in a box sealed for my birthday but I still use a 2 year subscription...

If so, how long can I keep this key unused ? (5 years or more?)

Sorry I just read back and see I wasn't very clear, If the key has never been used it will work on the next version. As for any other future versions (past the new 2012 that in beta now) know one can really say. How long of the 2 year licence you have is left?

Right now, the keys for 2006 products will activate the new products.  This does not mean that it will stay that way five years from now.  Rules change.  I don't think that anybody can guarantee you that the key will work five years into the future.  It is highly likely that the key will still be useable at the time your present subscription expires.

I've had contact through chat and an unused product key is still valid after 5 years if not activated.

 

It will never expire...
