The error message lies. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the Norton servers being available.
When you uninstall Norton Family, and it asks for your Norton account, make absolutely sure that you're entering the exact same Norton account that Norton Family was installed to begin with on that PC. If you don't you'll get the servers unavailable message. This true for a reinstall also.
For the time being, once you give Norton Family an account on a PC, it's set that way for all eternity. You cannot change it, not on an uninstall, not on a reinstall either.
I'm waiting for a fix too. I demonstrated the problem for Katie in a private session a few weeks back.
