How to automatically delete unwanted files from Cloud Backup

I am continually creating new files and deleting old ones.  It's part of my nature.  So when I started using Norton Cloud Backup, I guess I was remiss in expecting those periodic backups to propagate the deletions I make on my local drive.  Instead, my local deletions are ignored and the Cloud Backup keeps getting bigger and bigger, filling up with long-discarded and unwanted files.  This not only uses storage space needlessly, it also guarantees many hours of manually deleting files on my local drive should I ever need to restore from a cloud backup.  It is incredible to me that I am given no control over this behavior.  My choices seem to be: (A) manage my backup set by going in and individually deleting the files I no longer need (a tedious and time-consuming task) or (B) creating a new Cloud Backup set (which requires deleting the old set first, unless I want to maintain two alternating cloud backups and pay for more than twice the backup storage I really need).

Could Norton please, PLEASE give us control over this behavior of Cloud Backup?  Please???  Or somebody please explain to me what I am missing here.  Is there a setting I don't see?

This might be a good suggestion for the Product Suggestions board https://community.norton.com/forums/product-suggestions

Thanks for confirming how the current system works, but that is not satisfactory.  A far better solution would be to allow users to authorize automatic propagation of intentional deletions made on the local system, supplemented by a 30-day recycle bin in the cloud along with the leaner (and saner) cloud backup.

The nature of a backup is to protect against file deletions, whether purposeful or accidental. There is no automatic way to remove deleted files from the cloud storage.

You can delete them from the cloud using Windows Explorer. Using a Windows admin account, open Explorer and click on This PC in the left pane, and then double click on Norton Backup Drive in the right pane. That will bring up your backup sets. Double click on the backup set you wish to manage. It can take a little time to populate the list, but once it has been loaded, you can navigate through the files in the backup and delete the ones you wish to remove.
