How to delete desktop icon Norton 360?

I can’t remove the Norton 360 icon from the desktop. After rebooting, the icon reappears on the desktop. Tried it several times. Each time after reboot, the icon reappears. It’s annoying.<img src=“/en/system/files/u20246185/Capture.PNG”

Its working on ALL my Windows 10 Pro machines with 21H1.

As indeed is the method I described to two users one of whom has not come back. It's only on one machine with only one user but I've been rid of the icon for a good time now.

I don't know what version Windows you are running, and no offense. Its working on ALL my Windows 10 Pro machines with 21H1. I will provide a screenshot if requested. More than half a dozen restarts on this laptop, the icon hasn't reappeared. IMA, there is only 1 user on all my machines, each is admin. No other than admin accounts.

Deleting the icon from "C:\Users\Public\PublicDesktop" does not resolve the problem. I tried this and the Norton icon did return. A Norton Tech also had this idea...tried it...didn't work. The icon was back after we rebooted. We tried all of the laptop profiles (all that have admin rights). The icon always returned.

All: Open Windows File Explorer. Scroll to C:\Users\Public\PublicDesktop, delete the Norton icon there, restart the system. I verified this as working on my personal laptop. The Norton desktop icon does not repopulate upon restart.

This did not resolve the problem. I had a Norton tech remote login for an hour and he couldn't get rid of the icon either. After every restart, the desktop icon returned.

I can erase any other icon in my personal windows profile or on the public desktop folder. The only one we can't get rid of is the Norton shortcut.

I know what you mean!

I did some experimenting yesterday and got rid of it ..... still after several restart's.

Mouse Click on the WINKEY Start button and scroll down to Norton (may be Norton Security) and right mouse click on it to show the Norton 360 entry.

That should show a list of choices which includes one to Unpin from Start  -- click on that and exit.

I think you may have to Restart to get rid of the desktop icon or you could just delete it in the normal way and it should not come back.

You can still access Norton 360 if you need to by clicking on the up arrow head ↑ on the right side of the bottom toolbar and then clicking on the Norton icon it reveals.

Or if you really need something on the bottom toolbar that is easy to see, you can go back to how I listed above and when you get to where, originally, the Norton 360 delete from START appeared you should see some other entries including the word More -- click on that and then click on Show on Toolbar and there you go ..... I hope!
