I am using a software program that keeps getting blocked from connecting to their server. They say that I need to make sure that the following settings are allowed by my security software;
If you go into settings to program control>configure, add the software exe. Once it is added, you will be able to click on that entry and click modify. You will see two rules. Click on both entries individually, and under the tabs add the necessary "inbound and outbound, tcp and udp, and then add the port numbers that you need. I can't recall if the IP addresses can be added there as well, but they can be added to the trusted internet zone in internet options.
Check also to see that the traffic is allowed by the server. There can be a breakdown in the request for contact, the authorization for contact, receipt for the authorization or the actual contact. It is unlikely that Norton is blocking the outgoing request, but may be blocking the incoming authorization.
