Issue abstract: opening Smart Firewall for Windows App (Remote Desktop)
Detailed description: in my router I forwarded port 3389 for the PC I want to remote-control using Mac Windows App on a different network. I set the WAN IP address as the gateway in Windows App. When I try to connect, I get prompted for my credentials, but after a minute or two I get an “Unable to connect” with error code 0x300005f. Googling that error code suggested it might be a firewall issue on the PC. How do I configure Norton’s Smart Firewall to allow Windows App?
Product & version number: Norton 360 26.2.10802
OS details: Windows Pro 11 25H2
@Robert_J_Lauriston Have you made sure RDP is enabled in Windows services? Have you appended the port 3389 to the end of the host IP and retested?

Remote Desktop is enabled, I can use it over the local network. Adding :3389 to the gateway IP address did not help.
It seems weird that Remote Desktop does not appear in the Program Control list given that there are two rules about it.
Norton is definitely blocking Remote Desktop, I got an alert from it.
Try creating a new rule in the traffic rules setting. Click the more button just to the right in the top.

I gave up and am going with Jump Desktop instead. Worked fine the first time.
