You love Google Chrome, but would like to live without GoogleUpdate.exe? Beyound doubt, Chrome is the fastest borwser out ther. It's from experience @ real world scenario, rather than from any 'testing'. SRWare Iron may be a choice too, but you'll not enjoy support from by Norton 2012 products.
This is the ONLY known way of getting Google Chrome without GoogleUpdate.exe.
Download the stable installer from Softpedia.com!!
It comes without a trace of that pesky background process.
Yes, you'll not know when the browser is updated, since it lacks the updater. So, register on Softpedia.com, subscribe to get email alerts when the browser is updated. It's free service & they NEVER spam you even once.
Only thing is, it gets installed in user's AppData folder, so you have to install separately for every user on the PC. No way to install in Program FIles.
P.S. - You can also subscribe to get update alerts all your favorite software or ones you want to keep track of! You will never be running outdated software.
I was exasperated with Chrome's behaviour, so I thought I must share with everyone looking for a solution to the problem.
If there is any other way, please share!
I have observed that some websites suggest one to download the Standalone installer to avoid GoogleUpdate.exe, but it INCLUDES GoogleUpdate.exe.
Thanks!!
