How to get Norton 360 to stop deleting a program exe file that it thinks is a virus

I downloaded a program today that I purchased to uninstall a problem program that I could not uninstall through Add/Remove.  The program, Mighty Uninstall, has good reviews, but Norton has decided this is a virus, and deletes the exe file whenever I download the program.  I turned off Norton so I could get the program downloaded (and was finally able to delete the problem program, deal runner, but once I turned Norton back on, it deleted the Mighty Uninstall .exe file again.

How do I get Norton to recognize that this is not a virus, and get it to allow me to keep the Mighty Uninstall program on my computer?

Thanks for anyone's help.

Hi,

here are the steps for you:
1. Open your Norton product
2. On the main window click Tasks and there on the Security History option

3. On the opened window click on the drop down menu and select Quarantine
4. On the list find the file you want to restore
5. Click on More Details (bottom, right side)
6. On the new window click on Options (bottom)
7. Click on Restore file
8. Check the "do not detect it any more option" during the restore
9. Close windows

Let us know the results.

Thank you for your response.  I can get through instruction No. 5, where I click on the more details of the program I do not want blocked, When I get to instruction, 6,"6. On the new window click on Options (bottom)"  I get a window that is called "File Insights".  that does not have an "options" at the bottom to click on.  Please let me know if there is another way to get to restore and to tell it not to delete this program.

Thanks

Sharon

Hi,

the Options "button" (it looks more like a link) is located next to the Close button.

Hi,

Norton blocks a file after performing lots of analysis.

These steps indicated below are strongly not recommended since Norton product has blocked the file as virus.

Launch "Settings" from Norton 360 UI -> Click "Antivirus" Link -> Click "Scans and Risks" Tab

Under "Exclusions/Low Risks" you will see "Items to Exclude...." options.

Based on the category of the file please select the relevant option and add the file to exclusion list.
